A beautiful garden isn’t an accident. It’s a relationship.

At Sonoma Outdoor Escapes, we care for your property the way a vintner tends a vineyard — seasonally, intentionally, and with a long-term vision in mind. We don’t show up to “mow and blow.” We steward living landscapes.

Every garden we maintain runs on a thoughtful, organic plan tailored to your soil, your plant palette, and Sonoma County’s unique rhythms. Pruning happens at the right time. Edibles are supported to actually produce. Natives are guided to thrive, not just survive. Compost and organic inputs feed the soil so your landscape gets healthier year after year.

The result? A garden that looks composed, abundant, and quietly impressive every single month of the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often are your visits?

We believe in taking our time in the garden. During a visit from Sonoma Outdoor Escapes you can expect us to spend between 2-4 hours in your outdoor space. Unlike other garden companies that come weekly. We prefer to do our visits monthly- bimonthly depending on your gardens needs. We find that this approach allows us to be more thoughtful and efficient.

Are you another one of those mow and blow companies?

We have been serving the bay area consistently for over 5 years and our reviews speak for us. Our core values as a company truly stand out in this category. Garden maintenance is not a 1 size fits all and we believe that each individual client needs special attention.

What is IPM?

IPM is the system we use to ensure that your garden is disease free. We believe that every animal and insect in our backyard ecosystem is important so we will take every measure to foster a clean environment before moving into Castile soap and neem oil. We never use harsh metal based or Glyphosate based chemicals.

Do you maintain lawns?

We can maintain lawns, but our focus is on gardens, natives, edibles, ornamental plantings, and thoughtfully designed landscapes. If you’re looking for basic lawn-only service, we may not be the right fit.

Do you offer one-time cleanups?

We do offer initial cleanups or garden resets before starting ongoing maintenance. A proper cleanup includes thoughtful pruning, soil reconditioning with compost, debris removal, irrigation check-ins, and restoring structure to the planting design.

Our goal isn’t to make the garden look “clean for the weekend.” It’s to reset it so it can thrive for the season ahead.

What is compost philosophy?

Modern science and biology has worked very hard to show us that our conventional approach to gardening the last 100 years has been all wrong. We believe in a feed the soil not the plant mentality. We will regularly apply compost teas, mulch and compost as part of our comprehensive maintenance stragtegy.
